Hello everyone,

I’m not going to give you an index of porridge bowl ideas for breakfast, but I’m going to share with you my little story with my children, the day I offer them “porridge for breakfast”.

I’m not that generous, and I don’t offer porridge every morning, just because I have three kids, and each wants their porridge totally different from the other. I don’t just take one pan to make a good amount of porridge for the whole family.

No, with my children, each has his own taste and each what he likes in his custom bowl. That’s why I always choose to offer them porridge during the weekend. Already they don’t wake up at the same time, plus I’m preparing their own guided recipe for each one: give me that, add that… No, not that! do you see the scene?

Luckily for me, I discovered “instant porridge”, it’s oat flakes that are sold in small packets, one packet per person, the quantity of oat flakes is already in place, we put in the bowl, the same sachet is filled with milk up to a line drawn in the small packet.

We add to taste what we like in the bowl, and we go in the microwave for 2 minutes to 2 minutes 30, of course to know the consistency we want from our porridge, don’t worry I’ll tell you give the exact quantities later.

For me I like my porridge with almond milk, moreover I have already shared with you the recipe for the porridge bowl with pears, of course the fruit is to taste, so make your personalized porridge and for what not present it in a custom photo bowl with your own photo, or the photo of the person you love the most?

My children had before this kind of very nice personalized bowl which with time, and especially regular use, or they are chipped, or completely damaged.

And although I bought this nice set of bowls, very recently with beautiful colors and everyone chose their bowl and their color, they still asked me for personalized bowls with it, whether it was their photos or a design of their choice! Oh children. Especially my eldest son who had his bowl for more than 10 years, he liked it a lot.

Going back to my recipes from today and my story with porridge day, I always start with me, hehehe, while everyone is in bed, and I’m making myself my delicious almond milk porridge, I put on the fruits that are present, but above all I do not forget a nice tablespoon of chia seeds, and a little crunch, whether by adding crushed almonds or pecans.

My youngest loves his all-chocolate porridge, so I add the chocolate to the porridge right out of the microwave, and garnish with either banana slices, or otherwise just white chocolate, which he likes a lot.

My daughter rather likes her porridge with raisins and dried cranberries. she likes the raisins to be dipped in the milk with the oatmeal and cooked in it, and the cranberries to puff up a bit in a little boiling water, to garnish her bowl. I had put a little coconut just to highlight the color of the raisins and cranberries, well she didn’t like it too much, although she likes coconut, but I shouldn’t have changed her porridge, hihihihihi.

As for my eldest son, he prefers his porridge to be made with coconut milk when I have it, otherwise if there is no coconut milk, I must add at least 2 tablespoons of grated coconut in milk with oat flakes. And for the fruit either slices of banana or slices of pineapple.

Well, you can imagine all these preparations just for breakfast! The weekend is long, because just after all the dishes that have accumulated in the sink, I already have to think about lunch, snack and then dinner!

Porridge with raisins:

  • 240 mL whole milk
  • 40 gr of oatmeal
  • 1 vs. soup raisins
  • 1 vs. tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 vs. tablespoons dried cranberries

Coconut Porridge:

Chocolate Porridge:

  • In a saucepan, mix the milk, brown sugar, and oat flakes

  • bring to a boil then let thicken over low heat, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes

  • at the end of cooking, add the squares of dark chocolate, stir to melt the chocolate

  • Present in a bowl and garnish with banana slices and chopped chocolate

Porridge with raisins:

  • place the cranberries in a little hot water and let them swell.

  • In a saucepan, combine the milk, brown sugar, oatmeal and raisins,

  • bring to a boil then let thicken over low heat, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes

  • In a bowl, pour the porridge, and garnish with raisins and hydrated cranberries.

Coconut Porridge:

  • In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, brown sugar, oatmeal and coconut,

  • bring to a boil then let thicken over low heat, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes

  • In a bowl, pour the porridge, arrange the banana slices and garnish with coconut and crushed hazelnuts

  • Enjoy!
